UB improves continuously education quality by involving all communities in UB. The standard quality refers to national and international qualities which are National Accreditation Board for Higher Education ( BAN-PT), ISO, and World Class University (WCU). Regarding this quality standards, QAC conducts some activities related to international accreditation  including :

  • Benchmarking
  • Socialization of international accreditation standards
  • Assistance of International accreditation

Some activities related to international accreditation assistance are presented below.

Benchmarking to ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA)

QAC-UB visited ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) in Bangkok, Thailand, dan Guangxi Normal University (GNU) in China on March 3-9, 2013. This visit was managed by chief of QAC, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mohammad Bisri. The aim of the benchmark program was to learn in more detail about international accreditation standards which will be implemented by UB to obtain international accreditation for some SP’s at UB.

“The present benchmarking aims to make sure existence of AUN-QA. We can see their activities, then we can learn about some criteria and indicators of evaluation to prepare international accreditation,” said Prof. Bisri. The number of participants was 10 members of QAC representing the faculty/study program. Prof. Nantana Gajaseni, PhD. (Executive Director AUN) welcomed UB team and explained everything regarding AUN-QA institution.
AUN-QA was also facilitating student and culture exchange of the AUN-QA members. In addition, some courses and programs development are presented. This presentation gives an same understanding and perceptions among universities in ASIA. The aim of this visit was also to register 12 SP’s at UB to be accredited by AUN-QA. The information obtained was used to make some strategies to achieve UB at ASEAN level by focusing on AUN-QA criteria..

Following the visitation, on 22-25 April 2013, UB sent 14 staff representing the study program to attend AUN-QA Training Course in Bangkok, Thailand. The courses content were about QA understanding in Higher Education’s in regional and international perspective, AUN Quality Assessment process and internal QA: Self-assesment at study program.

The trainers in this course were Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tan Kay Chuan (Director, office of Quality Management National University of Singapore) and Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin (AUN-QA Expert). With this course, study programs in UB are expected to prepare Self Assessment Report (SAR) and an accreditation proposal document. All the participants will be involved in the SAR preparation at their SP’s. The participants then went to Guangxi Normal University (GNU) in China to learn how GNU attract international students to study at GNU. This can motivate UB team to achieve UB as an international recognized university.
